Stand Tū Māia in partnership with The Theraplay® Institute are delighted to present the Two-Day Sunshine Circles® training.

Sunshine Circles® is an adult-directed, structured play group that incorporates playful, cooperative and nurturing activities that enhance the socioemotional well-being of
children. Unlike other play group approaches, Theraplay learning takes place on a non-verbal level. Instead of talking about positive social behaviour, the group leaders and children DO positive social interaction. Positive messages from the group interaction gradually become a part of the child’s internal sense of self. Sunshine Circles training is for professionals who want to use Theraplay in classrooms. This two-day training is for people who are wanting to explore how interactive play can be used in the educational context to build stronger relationships.

In this training you will be able to:

  1. Describe the four dimensions of Theraplay, a modality of play therapy
Apply Theraplay play principles in a class-wide setting
  2. Develop Theraplay skills in using the Sunshine Circles® rules and group techniques through practice
  3. Demonstrate how to adapt the use of Sunshine Circles®, with various populations
  4. Describe how nurturing and regulating physical connection can assist a child to feel calm and more organized in an education setting
